Subject: Conference Fraud Alert

Dear colleagues,

We had an annoying experience while organizing the workshop
“Mathematics for Biomedicine”
(congressi.iac.cnr.it/mathbiomed2018)

It seems that a probably fraudulent company apparently located in
Germany, UK, and the US used the list of invited speakers, published
online, to contact our colleagues.

They presented themselves as “the reservation team for the Congress”
and pretended to reserve rooms in hotels (far from the workshop venue)
asking for the credit card credentials. Calling the hotels it seems
that actually there was no reservation.

The address of the company is Business Travel Management, Am
stationsgarten 45 ,42327 Wuppertal, Germany. UK : +44(0) 20 32861516.
US:+1 786- 7240 – 414. E-mail: support@btravelmanagement.com. Web:

New NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences Program Directors for Fiscal Year 2019

NSF welcomes 8 new Program Directors to the Division of Mathematical Sciences
(DMS). Currently, DMS has 28 Program Directors in charge of various
research funding programs. Of these, approximately half are “rotators” spending
typically two years at the DMS, while the other half are permanent
federal employees. This year all 8 of our new Program Directors are
joining the Division in the rotator capacity: Dr. Yuliya Gorb, Dr.
Pamela Gorkin, Dr. Pawel Hitczenko, Dr. Michelle Manes, Dr.Krishnan
(Ravi) Shankar, Dr. Janet Striuli, Dr. Branislav (Brani) Vidakovic,
and Dr. Huixia (Judy) Wang. More info can be found here:
