Life Events

Dear SMB members,

In spite of its rapid growth, the SMB still feels, to many of us, as an extended family, rather than just a professional society: many friendships, beyond professional collaborations, began in SMB meetings. I will never forget the support I received from SMB members when I lost my first husband in a car accident, to bring just one example. Hence, we have decided to devote a column in the SMB Newsletter to commemorating members' significant life events. This will be the place to publish congratulations to members who won significant prizes or honors; supportive notes to members who are going through difficult times; and so on. The contributions to this column will have to come from members - so the contents depend on all of you. May we have many happy occasions to congratulate members on, and very few unhappy ones.
