Postdoctoral Position in Applied Mathematics

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Applied Mathematics beginning January 1, 2000. The position will be held within the project "Modelling and Analysis of Networks of Neurons" of the Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS) Network of Centres of Excellence. The successful candidate will have opportunities for collaboration with researchers at University of Waterloo, York University and/or University of Guelph, and will be expected to fulfill some teaching duties. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal and is subject to the availability of funds.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, physics or related discipline and proven ability, or potential, for excellent research. Experience in the following areas is essential: differential equations, dynamical systems, and bifurcation theory programming in Maple. Experience in the following areas would be an asset: delay differential equations, neural networks, mathematical biology, pattern recognition, programming in C or C++.
