The Mathematical Biology group within Bioinformatics applies mathematics and computation to challenging problems in pharmaceutical research. Computer simulation and mathematical models for a variety of different biological phenomena and disease processes are developed by the Mathematical Biology Group. The student will focus on programming and algorithm development for visualization and animation of the voluminous results from these complex models.
We are seeking applicants with exceptional strengths in computer science and interests in visualization and scientific computing. It is preferred that the student has experience in Unix, C/C++ programming, and software engineering. Some background in graph theory or numerical analysis, Matlab programming, animation, or visualization would be a plus. The educational level of the student would be from advanced undergraduate to Ph.D. candidate. Start and duration of the position is negotiable within a 3-month to 6-month maximum term.
