Job description: Molecular mechanisms for control of cell division in frog eggs, yeast cells, and mammalian cells are converted into sets of nonlinear ordinary differential equations by the laws of biochemical kinetics. The equations are analyzed by standard tools of dynamical systems theory: bifurcation theory, singular perturbation theory, phase plane analysis, numerical simulations. Theoretical results are compared to experimental data to confirm and refine the models. Candidates should have some familiarity with AUTO. Experience in parameter estimation and optimization methods would be useful.
Salary: $25-27,000 for one year, depending on qualifications.
