Subject: Postdoc Position: Cancer Genomics, Hope Cancer Institute
Cancer Genomics Staff Scientist
Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:
A STAFF SCIENTIST position is available immediately with Dr. Andrea
the City of Hope Cancer Institute, CA in the field of cancer genomics.
We are seeking researchers to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a
creative and collaborative environment consisting of computational and
lab biologists, as well as physicians, to develop computational
approaches to understand the progression and metastasis of breast and
ovarian cancers from unique clinical samples. We are funded as one of
nine U54 NCI Cancer Systems Biology Consortium centers in the US, and
have extensive collaborations across the country:
The successful applicant will have experience in working with next
generation sequencing data (e.g. somatic variants, gene expression, copy
number) to dissect the molecular drivers of the disease. Experience
with single cell analysis is a plus.
The Staff Scientist series is designed for career research professionals
whose primary function is to support the research infrastructure and
activities of the institution. Staff Scientists will bring special
skills, knowledge and experience to research programs or institutional
core laboratories.
To Apply
Please send a CV, a brief statement of research interests and why you
are interested in our research program, and contact information for
three references to Dr. Andrea Bild (
abild@coh.org). IMPORTANT: please
include the words "Cancer Genomics Staff Scientist" in the subject line
of the email. Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
To join our group, we are looking for highly motivated individuals
that have demonstrated scientific productivity, excellent communication
skills, and the capacity to conduct independent research. We are
interested in applicants with a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer
Science, Statistics, Math, or comparable experience.
The Staff Scientist must possess, at a minimum, the U.S. equivalent
bachelors or masters degree in an appropriate discipline, and will often
have a Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree.

Subject: Postdoc Position: Spatio-Temporal Modeling, Georgetown & UGA
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Department of Biology, Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA
Odum School of Ecology, University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions in spatio-
temporal modeling of childhood diseases and vaccine refusal behavior.
Description:
Applications are invited for postdoctoral work on an NIH-funded project
on spatio-temporal modeling of childhood diseases and vaccine refusal
behavior in the United States. This position will be based in the group
of Shweta Bansal (http://bansallab.com) at Georgetown University or the
group of Pej Rohani (http://rohanilab.ecology.uga.edu/) at the
University of Georgia.
Successful applicants will develop mathematical and statistical models
using highly-resolved disease and behavior data to infer behavioral
processes and model transmission. The ideal candidate has a PhD in
statistics, applied mathematics, EEB or another highly quantitative
field, with previous experience in spatial modeling and epidemiology of
childhood diseases highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a
track record of publication; have strong organizational, written, and
oral communication skills; and be able to work both independently and
as part of a collaborative team.
Initial appointments will be for one year, with possible renewal up to
two additional years depending on progress. The salary will be in the
range of $48,000-54,000 per year (depending on experience), plus fringe
benefits. Candidates from underrepresented minority groups are strongly
encouraged to apply.
Applicants should send a cover letter, a detailed CV, a brief statement
of research interests, and names and contact information for three
references to Shweta Bansal (e-mail: shweta.bansal@georgetown.edu). The
cover letter should discuss a possible start date and a preferred
location. Review of applications will begin immediately and will
continue until the post has been filled.

Subject: Postdoc Position: Network Modeling, Georgetown U
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Department of Biology, Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in network
modeling of ants and other wildlife.
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate
position at the interface of behavior and disease. This position will
be funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and will be
based in the group of Shweta Bansal (http://bansallab.com) at
Georgetown University, in close collaboration with the group of David
Hughes at the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics at Penn State
University. Successful applicants will develop mathematical and
statistical network models using (highly-resolved) contact network data
to infer behavioral and transmission processes. We are interested in
individual-level and social feedback of disease on behavior
(disease-induced behavior change; social immunity), and in the
development of dynamic network methods that detect and predict this
feedback.
The ideal candidate has a PhD in statistics, applied mathematics,
computer science, network science, ecology or another highly
quantitative field, and experience in statistical or dynamical
modeling of networks. Experience in disease ecology is highly preferred,
but not necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of
publication; have strong organizational, written, and oral communication
skills; and be able to work both independently and as part of a
collaborative team.
Applicants should send a cover letter, a detailed CV, a brief statement
of research interests, and names and contact information for three
references to Shweta Bansal (e-mail: shweta.bansal@georgetown.edu). The
cover letter should discuss possible starting dates. Review of
applications will begin immediately and will continue until the post has
been filled.
