The Fourth International Workshop on Computational Network Biology: Modeling,
Analysis, and Control (CNB-MAC 2017) will be held in Boston, MA, August 20.
The workshop will be organized in conjunction with the 8th ACM Conference on
Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Informatics (ACM-BCB 2017),
the flagship conference of the ACM SIGBio. The workshop aims to provide an
international scientific forum for presenting recent advances in computational
network biology that involve modeling, analysis, and control of biological
systems and system-oriented analysis of large-scale OMICS data. Paper
submission deadline is May 10, 2017.

The partner journals include BMC Bioinformatics, BMC Genomics, and BMC Systems
Biology. Detailed information can be found on this website:

SEADS ICCM Postdoc and PhD Description: Biomedical Informatics or Related
Field in Computational Biology

Job Summary: Biomedical informatics (BMI) is the interdisciplinary, scientific
field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data,
information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving and
decision making, motivated by efforts to improve human health.

Purpose of these positions: The incumbent to these positions would be
responsible for initial configuration and implementation of a prototype of the
Structured Environment for Animal Data Simulation (SEADS) platform in the
Cerner Inc. computational environment. The SEADS is envisioned as a
multipurpose platform that will integrate disparate sources of animal health
data (veterinary electronic medical records, FDA regulatory drug submissions,
pharmacogenomic data, preclinical toxicological data, pharmacological and
diagnostic laboratory data, etc.) into a single platform using tools developed
by Cerner (CODE, Ignite, etc. ) to create and manage their integrated human
health databases.

From: Andreas Hellander <andreas.hellander@it.uu.se>
Date: Tue, Apr 18, 2017 at 8:15 AM
Subject: Postdoc: Scientific Computing/Systems Biology, Uppsala University

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher for an interdisciplinary project
on modelling and simulation of multicellular systems in developmental biology.
The project, described below, will be conducted as part of a collaboration
between the the research groups headed by Associate professor Andreas
Hellander, Uppsala University, see http://hellanderlab.research.it.uu.se, and
Associate professor Igor Adameyko, Karolinska Institute, see
http://ki.se/en/fyfa/developmental-biology-and-regenerative-medicine.

In this project we seek to develop eScience simulation methods and software
driven by data from advanced imaging-techniques based on genetic labeling in
confetti embryos. The potential for simulations to probe intricate cellular
coordination processes is large, but currently there are no methods available
to bridge the large scale differences between the microscopic, cellular level
organization and the macroscopic shape transitions that define the
developmental processes. In this project we aim to develop new multiscale
methods that capture both mechanical and molecular interactions between
individual cells. We will use the methods to study how these interactions give
rise to rapid and reliable scaling of structures in the facial region of
embryonic mice. The project has the dual objective to serve as a driving
example for development of a cloud-based virtual laboratory for collaborative
modeling in biology. A more detailed description of the project is available
at:
http://essenceofescience.se/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/eSSENCE_Postdoc_Hellander_Adameyko.pdf

More information and instructions for how to apply can be found here:
http://uu.se/en/about-uu/join-us/details/?positionId=144809

We welcome applications no later than May 7 2017.
