Early registration will be closing on April 17th for the 2017 SMB
meeting in Salt Lake City, held from July 17-20.  Go to

www.smb2017.org

for information.  There will be a mentoring workshop on July 16 which
you can sign up for there.  We've got a great lineup of 39 minisymposia,
and about 100 talks and 100 posters, and I hope to see all of you here!

Subject: 6th ICMA conference, Oct 20-22, Tucson, AZ

The Sixth International Conference on Mathematical Modeling and Analysis of
Populations in Biological Systems (ICMA-VI) will take place October 20-22,
2017, at University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. The conference is dedicated to
the memory of Karl Hadeler.

The general theme of the ICMA conferences is the analysis of mathematical
models for the temporal dynamics of biological populations. A special
emphasis at this sixth conference will be placed on the effects of
environmental/climate change.

Specific topics include, but are not limited to: Population & ecological
dynamics; Adaptation & evolutionary dynamics; Dynamics of infectious
diseases; Dispersal and distribution of populations; Invasions and
endangered species; Management of natural resources.

Conference: SEB Gothenburg, Sweden, 3-6 July 2017
Session: Membrane Dynamics: Signalling and Polarity
Organisers: Nick Monk (Sheffield, UK) and Katie Fisher (Sheffild, UK)

Speakers:
Dr Martin Baron (University of Manchester, UK) - Tuning Notch signalling
through and an endocytic regulatory network: revisiting old genetic problems
with new insights
Dr Natasha Savage (University of Liverpool, UK) - Molecular mechanisms
underpinning polarised growth
Dr Katie Fisher (University of Sheffield, UK) - Molecular mechanisms of
coordinated cell polarisation in the Drosophila wing
Dr Linda Nemetschke (MPI-CBG, Germany) - Crumbs prevents ectopic Notch
activation in Drosophila by inibiting ligand-independent endocytosis

In this session we will explore the interplay between membrane compartments,
polarity components and signalling pathways during development, with a
particular emphasis on mathematical models. We currently have slots
available for short talks selected from submitted abstracts. Please consider
submitting an abstract and spreading the word about this session.

Long-term visitor funding available at the Fields Institute (Toronto)

The Fields Institute will host a thematic program on "Emerging
Challenges in Mathematical Biology" from January to June 2018. Funding
is available for long-term visitors (up to six months) to (partially)
cover airfare and accommodation. We are looking for individuals to
participate in the workshops, to interact with postdoctoral fellows, to
visit related research labs at nearby universities, and to contribute
to the community of researchers in Mathematical biology at the
Institute during this exciting program. For details and to submit your
funding application, please see

http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/activities/17-18/MathBiology

Applications will be reviewed as of May 1st, 2017, and approved, in
accordance with the above guidelines, as long as funding is available.
