A PDF position is available to work in the group of Leah Edelstein-Keshet
at the Dept of Mathematics, University of British Columbia.

Leah's area of research is mathematical modeling, spanning single to
collective cell migration, cellular signaling (Rho family GPases, Wnt-FGF
signaling), actin cytoskeleton, cell motility, and cell mechanics.

The following expertise is mandatory: familiarity with reaction-diffusion
equations, PDEs and ODEs, computational experience with Matlab and/or
XPPaut or other bifurcation software. Experience with cell simulation
software such as CompuCell 3D, CHASTE, and/or other 2D-3D cell dynamics
software is desired.  Preference will be given to candidates with a mix of
computational, mathematical, and biophysics experience, strong (oral and
written) communication skills, ability to work both independently and as
part of a group, and some experience with interdisciplinary research.

UBC has a vibrant group in Mathematical Biology and close ties with Applied
Mathematics and Cell Biology, with opportunities to learn about new areas,
to interact with biologists and mathematicians, to teach, and to mentor
students.  Candidates with a strong commitment to teaching will be provided
with an opportunity to teach up to one course per year in the Department of
Mathematics, for which additional salary is paid, subject to satisfactory
performance in teaching.

The position is for 2-3 years, renewable each year, normally starting in
August 2017, with some flexibility for later start date possible based on
individual circumstances.

Applicants must have a recent PhD (not more than 2-3 years ago max) or be
expecting to receive a PhD before the PDF position starts. The deadline for
receipt of applications is February 27, 2017. Applications received after this
date may also be considered. UBC is an equal opportunity employer. Minority
and women applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

To apply, send a current CV, a statement about research interests, and contact
