of German Research Centers. The aim of our research is to proactively
detect health risks involving humans and the environment, decoding the
mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing concepts for prevention and
therapy. In the framework of the Helmholtz initiative Personalized
Medicine (iMed) a close collaboration between the Institute of Diabetes

Postdoc f/m for integrative bioinformatic analyses of head and neck

Job Description
- Preprocessing and analysis of high-dimentional data from different
molecular levels (miRNA, DNAmeth, RNAseq, DNAseq, arrayCGH)
- Association analyses of omics data with clinical data, in particular
with metabolic parameters, and subsequent prediction analyses with
respect to radiation therapy response
- Reconstruction and analysis of regulatory networks
- Establishment of cell culture models for the functional
characterization of candidate targets with an emphasis on metabolic
dysfunctions
Your Qualifications
- PhD in biology, molecular biology, bioinformatic, biostatistics or in
related discipline
- Experience in statistics and analysis of omics data
- Profound knowledge of techniques in molecular biology/cell biology is
of advantage
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness for interdisciplinary work with the collaborating units

Position Description:
The Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology in collaboration
with a pharmaceutical partner is offering a two-three year, full-time,
postdoctoral research associate position in translational
pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PKPD) and quantitative systems
pharmacology (QSP). The position starts immediately and focuses on the
application of QSP with translational PKPD analysis, novel biomarker
identification analysis for a specific disease area and disease
progression modeling.
Additionally, postdoctoral research associates at CPSP have the
opportunity to be engage in a combination of duties that will include
research projects, graduate student mentoring, grant writing and
classroom teaching experiences. Fellows will also gain experience
outside the University of Florida through industry or FDA internships or
off-site participation in research with our Orlando partners including
the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute (SBMRI), Nemours Children
Hospital, and SBMRI-Florida Hospital Translational Research Institute.
It is expected that fellows attend and present at professional meetings,
participate in workshops and seminars and prepare at least 3-4
peer-reviewed publications to build a foundation for personal career
achievements. In addition to the scientific and clinical duties, fellows
are given the opportunity to grow their "soft skills", such as oral
communication, presentation skills and working on multi-disciplinary
teams.
Job Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for the position are a doctoral (Ph.D. or
equivalent) degree in quantitative sciences including Pharmacometrics,
Biochemical Engineering, and Systems Pharmacology/Biology as well as
knowledge of, or experience in, therapeutics in one or more disease
areas with an interest in pursuing a career in Pharmacometrics and
Quantitative Systems Pharmacology. The ideal candidate should possess
strong programming skills, excellent written and verbal communication,
good organizational abilities, and team work. A background and
understanding of basic pharmacology, pharmacometrics and/or systems
biology/pharmacology is preferred and strong hands-on knowledge in using
software platforms such as NONMEM, MATLAB, R/SAS or other software/
scripting languages is required. The candidate must be self-directed and
self-motivated.
Center for Pharmacometrics and System Pharmacology (CPSP) Overview

Florida Academic & Research Center at the Lake Nona Medical City about
5 miles southeast of the Orlando International Airport. The CPSP
provides an academic home to a multidisciplinary and integrative,

Description:
Applications are being sought for a position of postdoctoral fellowship
at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the areas of Computational and
Systems Biology of cardiomyocyte and mitochondrial functions in health
and diseases. The prospective postdoctoral fellow will work on an
integrative research project built-on combining computational modeling
and experimental measurements of cardiac mitochondrial and cellular
functions (electrophysiology, bioenergetics, cation homeostasis,
reactive oxygen species (ROS) emission) with an overall goal of
quantitatively understanding the biophysical and biochemical mechanisms
associated with mitochondrial and cellular dysfunctions in cardiac
ischemic-reperfusion (IR) injury and related pathologies. This research
is critical for identifying important mitochondrial and cellular targets
for developing effective cardioprotective strategies against IR injury
and related pathologies. Funding for this research is through a
NIH-funded Program Project Grant, which involves close collaborations
with various faculties within the Departments of Physiology, Biomedical
Engineering, and Anesthesiology. The fellow will have the opportunity to
participate in wet-lab experiments (isolated mitochondria, isolated
cardiomyocytes, and ex-vivo and in vivo hearts) in addition to the
computational modeling. The research will provide significant training
and exposure to mechanistic computational modeling of integrated
biochemical and metabolic systems (e.g. calcium-ROS interactions) as
well as biological mass transport and exchange processes. The fellow
will gain significant training and experience to become an independent
researcher in the larger field of research.
Qualifications:
The minimum criteria for the position are enumerated below:
(1) A Ph.D. degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering,
biochemical engineering, biophysics, biochemistry, applied mathematics,
or a related scientific field. Completion of the Ph.D. dissertation
within the last 2 years will be highly desirable.
(2) A strong background in cardiovascular physiology and cellular
metabolism, mathematical modeling of physiological and metabolic
systems, experimental data analyses, computational methods, and
scientific and technical computing skills using MATLAB. Experience in
computer programming using other languages, such as FORTRAN, C, C++ will
be an added advantage. Hands-on experience in wet-lab work pertinent to
cardiomyocyte and mitochondrial physiology will be highly desirable.
(3) Excellent communication skills (written/spoken English) and a
demonstrable leadership in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and
receiving academic excellence.
(4) Lastly, the applicant should have a keen desire and initiative to
learn, and the ability to function as part of a team.
