forest-grassland ecotones in the face of global ecological changes
including agriculture and climate change. The candidate should have a
strong background in ecological modelling (mathematical and/or
computational), some experience with field work in terrestrial systems
and/or using empirical data in modelling, and a strong related
publication record. Start date in 2016 or early 2017. More information
can be obtained by contacting Prof. Madhur Anand,

Subject: Tenure-Track: Theoretical Neurosciences, Bates College, US

The Neuroscience Program at Bates College, a private liberal arts
college in Maine, invites applications for a tenure track assistant
professorship in theoretical neuroscience to begin August 1, 2017. A
Ph.D. is required, with post-doctoral experience preferred. We welcome
applications from any sub-discipline in which neural phenomena are
studied using quantitative and/or computational formalisms. We are
especially interested in candidates whose work has potential
clinical/medical applications but does not require use of a vertebrate
animal colony. Candidates are expected to teach Introduction to
Neuroscience as well as additional courses that could include
quantitative methodologies in neuroscience, neural modeling,
bio/neuroinformatics, neural prosthetics, or computing in the health
sciences. Bates values innovative, inclusive pedagogy and active
scholarship and seeks applicants who can successfully integrate
undergraduates in their research. The College and the Neuroscience
Program are committed to enhancing the diversity of our campus community
and curriculum, and the most competitive applicants will have a record
of engaging people from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM fields.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background
check. Bates is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
Because the College recognizes that employment decisions often involve
two careers, Bates welcomes applications from those interested in
sharing a single faculty position. For more information about the
College and the Program, please visit the Bates website: www.bates.edu.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Consideration of candidates will begin September 15, 2016 and continue
until the position is filled. Your application should include your cover
letter, CV, unofficial graduate transcript, three letters of
recommendation, research statement, teaching statement, and diversity
statement. For this last item, please describe how your teaching,
scholarship, mentorship, and/or service would support the college's
historical and ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion. Finalists
will be invited to send additional materials suchas reprints, sample
syllabi, and teaching evaluations. Please direct any questions to Nancy
Koven, Ph.D., at nkoven@bates.edu. Applicants should submit all
requested materials through Interfolio (referencing job announcement
