One postdoctoral position in mathematical modeling circadian rhythms and/or virus infection dynamics at interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences Program (iTHEMS), RIKEN, Japan. The position is funded as part of a 5-year project until March 31, 2025 supported by Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology (CREST), Japan Science and Technology Agency.

With vast amounts of information now available on bio-molecules, we, mathematical modelling researchers are expected to integrate this information, to reveal new insights, and to derive solutions to important diseases. One of the goals of this project is to develop predictive and simple mathematical models describing either the circadian rhythms and/or virus infection dynamics, in collaboration with experimental biologists, physicists, and mathematicians in the field of machine learning and related disciplines at RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligent Project and other institutions. Drs Gen Kurosawa  and Catherine Beauchemin will jointly guide the selected candidate.

Our group, “Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences program (iTHEMS)” (Program Director: Tetsuo Hatsuda) at RIKEN is to promote interdisciplinary collaborations and creation of new interdisciplinary fields through the interactions among researchers in mathematics, theoretical sciences, and computational sciences. Also, iTHEMS aims at nurturing young scientists who cross the boundaries between different disciplines.
