NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program:
Computational Modeling and Simulation in the Applied Sciences, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA. Summer 2022: June 6 to July 29.MTSU REU Site: http://www.cs.mtsu.edu/~coms-reu/ The flyer.
Overview:
Are you an undergraduate biology, physics, computer science, or mathematics major interested in improving your coding skills while addressing computational research problems in the sciences?
Would you like to spend the summer at a dynamic university, working with faculty members and meeting others who share your interests?
Would you like to get paid to enhance your résumé and edge out other applicants with your advanced skills? If so, you should apply for a National Science Foundation-supported summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program focused on computational modeling in applied sciences. As a participant in this REU you will complete a specific computational research project in collaboration with an MTSU faculty mentor in one of the following areas:
♦ molecular dynamics modeling ♦ cellular biology
♦ epidemiology ♦ materials science ♦ acoustics ♦ optics
Meanwhile, a Python boot camp will take your computer programming skills to the next level. Professional development seminars will prepare you for the intricacies of a research-oriented career, and you will build a professional network while participating in fun social activities.
Eligibility: Applicants must be: US citizens, US nationals, or US permanent residents, and Undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
Support: Participants will receive a stipend ($4,000) plus housing, subsistence, and financial assistance for travel to and from Murfreesboro.
