    <p style=”text-align: left;”>The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for several full-time, benefits-eligible teaching assistant professor positions in mathematics and/or statistics. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2023. Subsequent academic year renewals (Aug. 16 – May 15) are contingent upon performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the unit.</p>
    The essential duties will be to teach eight sections of lower-division service-level mathematics and/or statistics classes per academic year, either in-person, online, or both. In addition to instruction, the successful candidates will be expected to participate in appropriate professional service, which may include course coordination in multi-section classes and curriculum development.

    Required Qualifications:
    • A Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in in-person and/or online instruction.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in the mathematical community

    Desired Qualifications
    • A documented record of excellence in classroom and/or online instruction.
    • Experience in teaching and curriculum development in beginning courses in college algebra, business mathematics, engineering mathematics, and statistics, both in-person and online formats.
    • Demonstrated success working with diverse student and/or faculty populations.
    • Documented experiences and/or expertise indicative of strong support for individuals who have been systemically underserved in the mathematical sciences.

    SoMSS currently has 57 full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members and approximately 96 supported Ph.D. students, along with an additional 50 Ph.D. students and 44 Master’s students. The School offers bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. programs in applied mathematics, theoretical mathematics, mathematics education and statistics, and undergraduate and master’s programs in actuarial science. In addition, the school offers an interdisciplinary B.S. degree program in data science, and participates in a cross-college Ph.D. program in Data Science. The School has excellent computing resources that include individual faculty workstations, several high-performance servers and a small cluster, as well as access to the University’s central computing facilities and the High-Performance Computing Initiative.
