The newly established Laboratory for Systems Medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida has several immediate openings for postdoctoral researchers, under the direction of Dr. Reinhard Laubenbacher. The openings are connected to two research programs, both collaborations between computational modeling and experimental teams. One program focuses on microbial ecology, in particular the modeling and control of heterogeneous biofilms. Expertise in agent-based modeling and discrete optimization is helpful, but not necessary. The other program is devoted to the construction of multi-scale models of the innate immune response to respiratory pathogens, including COVID-19, as well as the design of novel software architectures. The team combines expertise in different modeling techniques in systems biology, in particular agent-based modeling, bioinformatics, immunology, software engineering, and scientific visualization. Expertise in one or more of these is helpful, but not necessary. Under the current COVID-19 related restrictions, working remotely is possible.

Please direct inquiries to Dr. Reinhard Laubenbacher, reinhard.laubenbacher@medicine.ufl.edu
