SMB Education Subgroup 2019 Activities
On Thursday during the annual SMB conference, we are proud to announce the following Education Subgroup activities on Building Interdisciplinary Bridges.
In the morning, we will have a session on “Learning with All the Senses,” featuring contributors John Jungck, Holly Gaff, Meredith Greer, Carrie Diaz Eaton and Glenn Ledder. Topics will include modeling, gaming, and other hands-on activities for mathematical biology.
This is followed by a Lunch panel and discussion on “Data Science Education for Biology.”
Then in the afternoon, we conclude with a second session on “Building Bridges Across Disciplines, Knowledge, and People” with contributors Paul Macklin, Reggie McGee, Hwayeon Ryu, and Eberhard Voit. Topics will include interdisciplinary curriculum development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and course-based student research.
