Abstract submission for contributed talks and poster has now opened.
Also, we are especially encouraging junior faculty and faculty at four
year colleges to apply for funding. The deadline for applications is
March 26th and the announcements of awards will happen soon after.

University invites applications for PhD positions (research postgraduate
students) in the area of computational & systems biology. Hong Kong
Baptist University is a public institution funded by the Hong Kong SAR
Government, promoting academic excellence and innovation.
Pan-Jun Kim’s group is undertaking cutting-edge research with predictive
computational modeling and large-scale data analysis, which will lead to
breakthroughs in our understanding of collective dynamics of biological
systems. Indeed, we live in an exciting era for life science. Recent
experimental technologies have generated enormous amount of biological
data at various scales. Computational methodologies developed in
mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering enable modeling
and analyses of complex biological processes. In our research group, the
specific areas of interest include global microbial ecosystems inside
human body and their medical implications, and various metabolic,
regulatory, and signaling networks inside/between cells and their
emergent functional outcomes. More information can be found from

We welcome applicants from every discipline. The candidates should be
highly motivated, mathematically talented, cooperative, and responsible.
The candidates are expected to have some computer programing experience
(e.g., Python, C, or C++), and good communication skills in English.

Subject: Post-doc: Network Dynamics in Biology, Montana State U
We seek a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the research group
of Prof. Gedeon at Montana State University working on new approaches to
modeling the dynamics of networks in biology. We are closely
collaborating with the research group of Prof. Mischaikow (Rutgers
University), Prof. Harer (Duke, Mathematics) and Prof. Haase (Duke,
Biology).
Our approach characterizes the coarse dynamics of a network across all
of parameter space, allowing us to reject models that do not exhibit the
observed dynamics of the experimental system, and to suggest potential
regulatory networks that can be verified or discarded via further
biological experimentation. Our current projects include work on malaria
and check point regulation in cancer.
The successful candidate will have a solid background in dynamical
systems, very good computational skills (Matlab, Python, C++) and
interest in working on cutting edge problems in the intersection of
mathematics and cell biology.
The position is for one year with a possibility of extension for

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund announces a one-time award program providing
support for faculty time spent on developing improved approaches to
training graduate students for a more quantitative and
statistically-informed approach to thinking and a more model-driven
approach to doing research in the biomedical and related life sciences.
Up to four grants of $150,000 will support faculty effort and relevant
administrative support for up to two years of work on curricular
development, and/or pulling together elements from multiple departments,
and/or course and workshop development, as well as other efforts focused
on building or substantially restructuring didactic elements of graduate
training. We hope to seed development of Ph.D.s who will be more
quantitative, more formally prepared in experimental design, and more
able to think with and from models and statistics.
Eligibility: Applications are being accepted from an invited group of
participants. An invited institution, including all of its hospitals,
centers, and associated institutes may only participate in ONE
application to this program.
Proposal deadline: April 25, 2018 (2:00 pm EST).
